The Dragon Back

Another trip courtesy of the Hausers! Today it was a hike along the Dragon's Back, a trail on the southern side of Hong Kong Island. This trail is "the Best Urban Hike" according to TIME magazine and it is only 20 minutes from downtown Hong Kong. Dragon Back is "a ridgetop world of forested uplands and gurgling waterfalls."

But we didn't see any waterfalls, all we saw, especially on top along the ridge, was the same species of shrub! It was fun to hop down the ridge however, with the boys, through more species of trees. And later, at the bottom, they ran up and down the concrete roadsides.

The 5-mile trail starts at To Tei Wan and ends up at Big Wave Bay, where we went swimming recently also with the Hausers.

First Christmas in HK

Our first Christmas in Hong Kong was quiet on our own, but then a blast when we had the Hausers over. Together we sang songs and then truly went wild with dance, the djimbe, tambourines and guitar while singin "The Virgin Mary", "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", and more. And they had never had quite that sort of Christmas either. It was a highlight. I'm still looking for the photos of us dancing. And did we have any of a tree? Oh no, those were too expensive. This year we had our first "fake" tree!

Otherwise, here's a couple photos, including two at the "stable" in front of the CUHK Chapel just 4 minutes down the hill from us! And Birgit decided it was time to have another baby....

Welcome to CA!

No money, no funny... and so...

I have a new job! And the first week was, to my surprise, a training trip for the office, but this was not a serious training trip! No! This was a "fun" trip for office staff to get comfortable with each other and build team spirit. That we did! We played team building games, socialized and, during my session, sang songs! I was the odd, oversized blond guy, but I was able to lead them in songs, including the "12 Days of Christmans", the "Boogaloo" and more. They loved it!
